Rebuilding Our Schools

Christ Church New Brighton is raising money to electrify elementary and high schools in Liberia. Bill Sherman, EES-EHS Alumni Association, and Richard Zayzay, Bolahun World Wide, are co-chairs of a virtual walk to support the planning and design phase, which will start Nov. 22 and end Jan. 17, 2021.

Here is Feweh Sherman talking about the fundraiser:

And there's a bit more...

Since we're still in the middle of COVID, we can't have a standard walk with hundreds of walkers and start and end points. However, feel free to cover your miles by:

  • Walking with friends and families (with masks and socially-distanced, of course) in your favorite park
  • Hiking in the woods
  • Running around a track
  • Running or walking on a treadmill
  • Biking
  • Riding an exercise bike
  • Fit-bitting around town or around the house
  • Wheel-chairing
  • Taking a bus

In other words, pick any way to get some miles and donate! And if you can't walk, then support your friends and relatives who do: Promise them $10 for every mile they go.

Walkers, print out the Walk Team Form and sign up your supporters.

You can give cash or checks to your walker, who will hand in the donations to Christ Church, or you can pay by credit or debit card on GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/walk-to-raise-our-schools-from-the-ashes. You can also send checks to Christ Church New Brighton, 76 Franklin Ave., Staten Island, NY 10301, with the memo "Electric Schools."

More details will be coming during the next week, but please tell Fr. Trevor if you want to be part of the Christ Church walking team.
